Passionate Beginnings
I was first introduced to the world of horses when I was 10 years of age. I knew then that I had found my passion. Horses taught me more than I had ever imagined possible. Putting my passion for horses aside for many years when I was in post-secondary studies, I dreamed of returning to horses when I was able to do so.
I was able to reconnect with my passion of horses in 2009 and knew I had to find a way to share this passion in a meaningful way. After 27 years in education, 14 of those years in leadership, I felt I could teach so many skills for life and leadership with my horses but I was not sure where to begin.
That is when I found the Dreamwinds Equine Assisted Learning program which offers certification for equine assisted learning facilitators. I was drawn to this program because it offered structured lessons with clear learning objectives using horses. It was not therapy or social work, it was about self discovery, life skills and leadership using horses. I was sold!
Equine assisted learning combined both of my passions, MY LOVE AND RESPECT FOR HORSES AND LEADERSHIP. I connected with Tracey at Dreamwinds and took the certification course. Turns out, there is no better way to teach leadership and life skills than with the assistance of the BEST TEACHERS....HORSES.
In my formal education, I hold an honours degree in Psychology, a Bachelor of Education and a Masters degree in Education in Leadership. Using my formal education, my extensive experience in leadership, and my certification in equine assisted learning, my mission is to bring my clients a quality, objective-based, meaningful hands-on experiential learning opportunity to enhance self-development and leadership using horses. We can learn a great deal about ourselves and our leadership if we let horses teach us.
Are you ready to open yourself up to new learning?
